ANDENES programme is based medically on the definition of addiction as an illness of the brain and uses the Minnesota model as a structural basis. This model was designed in the 1940´s in general hospitals in the United States to recover patients who suffered any type of addiction. The Andenes model is based on the Minnesota model but has been adjusted due to experience, study and the application of the latest advances in Neuro-Physiology. Our programme is characterized by the following points:

Treatment: Personalized, each patient is treated individually.

Intensive counseling: 30 or more hours per week.

The programme uses a simple cognitive methodology that has a logical projection; nonetheless during the process when used directly on the human mind, it must be constantly adapted to adjust the functions and characteristics of each individual.

Once the patient has achieved concentration, which is measured with normal sleep, the patient is capable of receiving and resembling the information about his/her disease, which is revealed in the behaviour and in the abnormal functions of thoughts and emotions. The recovery programme follows the following steps in which individual and group therapies treat the patient in three levels: mind, body and spirit.

The treatment treatment takes place during 28 full days (four weeks) from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (180 effective hours of work in recovery). The ambulatory model for patients who live far from the city of Lima or for foreigners, takes place during two months from 7 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with different activities and continuous supervision.

The objectives of the model in Andenes are mainly focused on helping individuals who suffer from an addiction to achieve a new life style where substance dependence, emotions and behavior can be controlled or modulated.

For that reason the individual is provided information to acquire meaningful knowledge and tools to handle situations, so the person may have the possibility of changing its life style.
